(More customer reviews)Whether you're a beginner at bird feeding, or a seasoned veteran with many years of back yard experience behind you, the one thing you will all come to have in common is the knowledge that black oil sunflower is the very best and sought after seed for all birds. Its something you will learn in bird feeding 101 on the first day. Though its true that some birds will scoop up cheaper seeds like milo and millet like a vacuum, if you want to attract both the most and largest variety of birds you should be offering them black oil sunflower. It will quite simply attract any order of bird that comes to feeders, period. Its shell is more paper like making it easy for any bird to crack open, and the pulp inside that is the birds delight is big enough to take up almost the whole interior of the shell. Making it well worth the birds efforts in eating and discarding one after another. Black oil is available anywhere bird seed is offered, and considering hardly any of it ever goes to waste makes it actually the true bargain of all bird seed. However take it from someone that has between 7 and 12 bird feeders of all types going at any given time of year, and has been for years, when it comes to premium gourmet black oil seed I honestly believe there is no such thing. Birds may adore black oil sunflower, but they are also one of the least discerning consumers when it comes to their diet of anything in the entire animal kingdom. In other words, a feeder bird will suck down a cheap sunflower seed as fast and as furious as a so called premium one. I know this for I bought a small bag of premium seed once and examined it, as well as closely monitored the birds consumption of it. Neither the seed shell nor the pulp appeared of any better quality, nor was the seed consumed any faster than the much cheaper brand. Its all the same to birds, ya gotta trust me on this one. The only visible attribute I noticed in the so called premium seed was that it was a little cleaner. That is, there were less wood shavings and small twigs in their blend than the cheaper stuff. Something that is not at all present in any volume to either pose a problem, nor be considered an extra expense in the regular brands. The outrageous price they ask for premium sunflower more than makes up for the weight of any crap added to the cheaper blends. There are many different kinds of brands and names being represented in the gourmet black oil sunflower seed class. Stokes being just one of the better known. Some agricultural centers here sell their premium sunflower by weight without you even knowing where it comes from. You are only told its the very best quality and cleanest you can buy for your birds. And of course, by far the most expensive as well. All of them, including the Stokes brand offered here are nothing but a big fat waste of your hard earned dollars. For the price they want for what you get in the Stokes you could easily buy 50 pounds or more at discount and agricultural centers locally. Throw in the shipping cost, and you would be hard pressed to find a bigger waste of money for anything anywhere on Amazon. Don't be taken in by Stokes or any other big brand name. Its all the same to Mr. and Mrs. Bird. Do yourself two favors, buy black oil sunflower seeds for your back yard feeders, and buy the very biggest and cheapest bag you can find. (If there is a Tractor Supply company store in your area, go there. I have not found any place cheaper. Avoid supermarkets and big box stores for any kind of bird food). You're birds will flock to your feeders and love you for it, and you will be rewarded by the delight of watching them and a fatter wallet as well...

(More customer reviews)This is my second feedback on this purchase. The order of Birdola birdseed cakes was received in a timely fashion. As I opened the box, I was sad to see that four of the 12 cakes was crushed and in pieces. The pieces had been rewrapped in cellophane to keep them together. Someone in the shipping process must have seen the broken bits and wrapped them in the plastic wrap. They are unusable in that shape. For a full 30% of the order to be unusable is quite extreme. I'm not happy.

Perry's Clear Glass Window Watch Hummingbird Feeder Review

(More customer reviews)I have many hummingbirds in my perennial gardens. This window feeder allows me to observe them up close and for longer periods of time. It sticks well to the window, HOWEVER, the removable "flower" will not stay in the well. It exposes the liquid and the birds won't drink from it without the flower effect. I have to constantly go outside and place the flower back onto the feeder from where it fell on the ground. The flower is also metal and gets extremely hot in the summer sun. The birds do use this feeder, though.

(More customer reviews)I just bought this hummingbird feeder and haven't been using it for very long, but it has a couple of problems that are obvious. First, it doesn't hang level, so one of the feeding tubes is lower than the other two. But, such is the nature of hand-blown glass, so I can live with that. The other thing that bugs me is that you can't fill it any higher than the feeding tubes. It is supposed to hold 20-ozs of nectar, I made 16-ozs and much of that leaked straight out. And because it doesn't hang level, it's even worse. It is very pretty though and I look forward to hopefully attracting many hummingbirds with it!

(More customer reviews)We live in a rural, wooded area. Tons of squirrels and chipmunks. I hung this up and kept an eye on it for over two months in the late spring, early summer. The squirrels completely ignored it. I noticed that even the raccoons didn't bother with this Squirrelog. The reason I give it 3 stars, instead of 1 or 2 stars, is perhaps this Squirrelog would be better received by the squirrels if I'd hung it up in the winter, and food was more scarce? I'm not sure, but our winters aren't cold anyway.
In any case, it became both a home and a source of food for little bugs/beetles, so I finally threw it away.

We already wore out our first one and decided to replace it. The first one lasted nearly a decade.
It's such a simple design, but they seem to really love it. The nails are nice and long, so it holds the corn cobs on really well.

(More customer reviews)This is a fine product. It is easy to fill and the hummingbirds seem to like it. My feeder was missing the metal cap when it came so I contacted Parasol. They were very polite and promptly sent the missing item. Most importantly, this product is designed so that it does not drip like many hummingbird feeders do. The only thing that keeps it from five stars is the finish. It is made from recycled glass which is nice but there are rather a lot of glass defects. This is fine if you are going for a rustic look but I'd prefer a smoother finish.

Pot de Crème Glass Review

(More customer reviews)This feeder came today, and for the most part it is what I expected. It is relatively small (a plus IMO) and though you could fill it with abt. 1 C of nectar, 1/2 C would be enough for hummingbirds to get plenty, and there would be less waste. The feeder and the flowers are entirely glass and should be very easy to clean with a flexible brush. The flowers are separate pieces and lift out for better cleaning access as well. Also the color is intrinsic to the glass and not a coating that would flake or peel with time, another plus IMO. On the negative side, there are no perches, nor are there any gaskets between the flowers and the pot which could make leakage a problem. There is not much in the way of ant deterrence, but there are other ways to deal with that issue if it comes up, so I don't regard that as a big negative YMMV. Lastly, the color of flowers is a nice deep red, just the color one would hope for, but the body of the pot is definitely on the orange end of the spectrum. Being that this is a handmade item I suspect there is natural variation in the color of the glass, which I guess is ok I was just hoping for something a bit darker. In fact if there is going to be variation, it might be nice to see some of these with splashes of color. I'd love a clear glass version with splashes of red for example, or the ability to buy replacement flowers. I suppose it is possible that the orange coloring of the glass could provide an oriole attractant (though you'd want to have another feeder nearby that they could actually eat out of!), in fact, perhaps they could make a model just for that!
I have not yet tested this yet to see if hummingbirds will indeed come to it, it is a little early yet for them to be in my area and at the end of the day that will be the real test. I'll try to remember to update that point in the comments when the time comes.

(More customer reviews)This tube feeder is pretty good. I've got this one and also the one without the wooden tray and top that's made by the same company. I actually prefer the model without the wood components. Mine actually doesn't have the wooden tray attached to it anymore. After some time had passed, I just simply tore it off. That's not a problem though because without the wooden tray, the feeder's bottom is identical to the other tube feeder model without the wooden parts (The wooden tray wasn't that strong.). The birds use this tube feeder quite a bit, but not always as much as the one without the wooden parts--both of them contain the same type of seed. Location could be the reason for that maybe. I also use a baffle above it to deter squirrels and to keep it from getting wet. I recommend getting the model without the wooden top and tray though. I actually rate this feeder 3.5 stars. It's still a good feeder that gets the job done with the birds.

HOMESTEAD STEP-IN-POLE Review

(More customer reviews)This pole is hard to assemble. The pieces don't fit together very well. You have to use a rubber mallet and have some patience. However, once the thing was put together, you just jab it into the ground. I would reccommend a wooden bird feeder for easiest installation. Just put in a couple of wood screws and you're done.
