(More customer reviews)I have beern using this hummingbird food for years. The local hummingbirds seem to love it. I have tried others, but, the local humming birds seem to shun them. Recently I had difficulty locating the MILLS Brothers humming food locally. I found it at Amazon.
I found that by using a Rubbermaid "RefillReuse" 20 oz. plastic bottle, mixing the food with water becomes easy. One side of the bottle is marked with a 10 oz. mark and a 20 oz. mark. Between those two marks is blank mark. That would be the 15 oz. mark.
I empty a bag of hummingbird food into the bottle. Fill the bottle with water until it reaches the mark between the 10 oz. and the 20 oz. marks. Replace the cap making sure the spout is closed and shake. Done. They sell the bottle at Amazon.

After getting it all set up and in the feeder the hummers shunned it in favor of another feeder with only clear necter. Save your money and make your own necter with sugar, its easier!

(More customer reviews)Although attractive, this horrible product trapped a tiny little chickadee as it tried to perch on the stand (I ground-mounted it). We discovered him after he had nearly pecked his own leg off trying to escape. I was able to free him by prying the bars of the mounting stand apart, all the while scaring the poor creature closer to death, and he was finally able to fly off where I'm certain he will die, either from trauma or an infection. I'm terribly disappointed with this product. Please be aware of this awful flaw and don't use the stand to mount the bowl.

I filled it with nectar and immediately sticky gummy poured out the bottom all over my kitchen and hardwood floors, etc. A mini-Nightmare! I took this piece of garbage back to the home depot the next day for a full refund. Birdscapes should be ashamed! I'd give this 0 stars if I could.

(More customer reviews)Red dye has never been scientifically tested for safety as a hummingbird food supplement, and while its health effects on birds are unproven, red dye is suspected by licensed rehabilitators of causing cancer in hummingbirds. Further, in preference tests, hummingbirds consistently choose plain sugar syrup (one part cane sugar to four parts water, nothing else added) over packaged mixes or homemade syrup containing dye, presumably because the dye tastes wrong to them. They also do not like beet sugar.
If hummingbirds seem to prefer this mix over plain sugar water, it's probably because the sugar water has fermented--it must be changed and the feeder cleaned as soon as it starts getting cloudy--and the fresh mix is the lesser of two evils. Many, many people report getting several times more hummingbirds after switching from this mix to plain sugar water.
A 1:4 sugar water syrup is nearly identical to natural flower nectars from plants that hummingbirds use. The contents of Perky-Pet's mix are not listed, since none of the protective government regulations apply to animal food, but analyses of the mix usually show a host of bacteria and other contaminants, presumably from unregulated and unsanitary handling practices. Sugar is cheap--why take a chance on the health of your hummingbirds?
I would rate this product with negative stars if it were possible.

The bottle opening screws are of such a size that none of the bottles I have laying around will fit...I did find one but it would not seal well and of course looked like crap. So I bought feeder anther hoping it will last longer. It would be nice if they sold separate bottles for cheap but that isn't going to happen.

(More customer reviews)The Perky Pet feeder has little plastic strips that cover the feeding port. The idea is this: The Oriole lands on the perch and the plastic strip lowers to reveal the feeding port.
The problem is the cover strips also have a hole in them. So, you're covering a hole with a hole -- ?????
Since I have hung the feeder, the only thing it has attracted is BEES. There are 8 to 10 bees on it at any given moment. They sit on the bee guard for quite a while, so I can only assume they are getting something for their effort.
The only benefit I'm reaping from this feeder is it seems to be keeping the bees away from my Hummingbird Feeders.
This product is definitely not worth the money.

(More customer reviews)There is no reason for the manufacturer to put red food coloring into this mix. There are numerous concerns about the effect on hummingbirds. This is reason enough to not buy this product. Buy a product without the dye.
Better yet, just buy sugar. Use 4 parts water and 1 part sugar. Boil the water first and then add the sugar until dissolved. You will save money and perhaps a hummingbird's life doing this versus buying dye tainted food. Hummingbird food is only sugar with coloring.
CAUTION. DO NOT use artificial sweeteners or honey, use only sugar. Honey and sugar substitutes will malnourish and quickly kill hummingbirds. Sugar Only!

(More customer reviews)This is a very nice little hummingbird feeder. It's one of only two that I've had through the years that has lasted more than one season. The others were either missing parts (usually the flowers fell off and blew away) or leaked constantly. Another nice thing about this feeder is that it's super easy to clean. You aren't left with a bunch of separate parts when you take it apart to refill it or to clean it, because there are only two parts. I usually just dunk mine in a mixture of bleach and water, rinse, and dry. It's plastic, so if you happen to drop it, it won't break. I've also had fewer problems with wasps and bees visiting this feeder than I've had with others. I'm not sure if because of the way the flowers are shaped or if it's because the flowers are red instead of yellow, but whatever the case, I'm thankful. I also like the nice small size of this feeder. Unless your yard is totally swamped with hummingbirds, this is more than enough since nectar needs to be changed so often.

The red top is flat across instead of increasing height to the center which I think is easier for the birds. I plan to buy several more since I haven't seen this exact design in years.

Perky-Pet HF91 Triple Treat Feeder, 6-Pound Capacity Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this bird feeder in hopes of downsizing for the winter months utilizing the possiblity of putting different selections of seed into 1 feeder, but am not sure it's going to work that way. I like the dividers and have used 2 sides for sunflower seed and the other side for thistle, however the gap at the bottom is large enough for the seed to mix. This does not appear to bother the birds so it does not bother me. The problem lies in the roofing when there is a stiff breeze as it acts as a wind catcher and ends up tilting off the feeder exposing the seed to the elements. Since it is plastic it is very lightweight and does not hold up to strong winds, and it's only November. I currently have 2 bungie cords fastening the roof on opposite sides to keep the seed dry but am not sure I'm going to keep up this process for the next 5 months of winter. If there was some simple way to secure the roof once the feeder was filled it would be a more desirable product, or if you have a location where it would remain out of the wind it would be a good feeder.

Perky-Pet 50301 Wren Home Cedar Birdhouse Review

The good news: Yes, It is aromatic cedar wood.
The bad news: It's assembled in China with staples which tend to split the wood. The floor is of 1/8" lauan plywood material (a little stronger than paste board). The dimensions are totally wrong and misleading. The actual size of the bird house is 6.5" tall x 6.75" wide x 7.5" deep (that's measuring the roof, the actual house is 4.75" x 5.75")
Shipping: It is shipped with very little packing. Mine arrived with the top cracked down the middle from being crushed.

Best 1 8 oz. Hummingbird Feeder Review

(More customer reviews)This is a small hummingbird feeder that would be great for those just trying their hand at attracting hummingbirds. It's inexpensive and easy to maintain, but most of all, the hummers love it! My wife and I have three hummingbird feeders: this one, a Schrodt - Crystal Single Etched Hummingbird Lantern, and another model with 6 tulip-shaped feeder holes. Though it's not one of the prettier feeders, the Best-1 is the one we paid the least for and it's the feeder they seem to prefer. There are no yellow flowers to attract yellow jackets, and they really seem to like to perch more on this one. Since it's a glass bottle design, you'll need a bottle brush to clean it well inside, but the lid pops off of the red base to make that part very easy to clean.
Older models of this feeder did not have the built-in ant moat (depressed ring around lid of base), so if you buy one locally, make sure it has that feature. With a small feeder like this one, you'll be filling it often enough anyway, so pouring a little water in that ring every few days is all it takes to keep the ants away.
