Looker 17" Hanging Classic Review

(More customer reviews)I looked at many hanging bird baths and this is the one that had all the features I wanted. We have cats so I wanted the bath to be high to protect the birds. (I bought a 6 ft. high shepherds hook to hang it from.) An important feature is that the big plastic dish is removable for washing and won't heat up in the sun like metal ones. The wood frame is very thick and heavy duty and the chain won't rust. It has pre-drilled holes which makes attaching the chain easy. I'm going to lightly sand the frame and water-proof it so it will be protected from sun and rain. The company "Looker" makes these and it's made in the USA. They have 2 different sizes and colors - I bought the larger one. You can order replacement bowls from them too and I'm VERY happy with this bird bath!!! Excellent quality, shipped very fast and the price is excellent!

(More customer reviews)It's a good feeder in that the feeding tube is mesh, which allows the bird seed to stay fresh and dry - as opposed to a solid tube with feeding stations that allows moisture to enter, but not dry once inside, causing mold and contamination of bird seed. It is also very easy to fill. And you can't beat the price.
The semi bad thing is that the cage surround has openings large enough to allow squirrels to feed from it. It basically became 'the squirrel feeder'. If hung in a place inaccessible to squirrels, it's a perfect bird feeder.

(More customer reviews)After filling our beautiful Heron Willows Teahouse birdfeeder with black thistle seed, the etched herons stood out dramatically. We set it on a hook outside our dining room window and waited for the show to begin.
In less than a week, we had six or more pairs of beautiful goldfinches vying for their turn at the feeder. They are competitive little critters, especially the bright yellow males. So in addition to watching them eat, we are constantly entertained with their efforts to unseat their rivals and gain access to the food.
When the goldfinches take a break, we simply enjoy the elegant design. This is one feeder that feeds the soul as well as the body. We heartily recommend it!

(More customer reviews)I have been a hamster mom for many years now, and I have found this product to add both an adorable touch of color and whimsical style to my little companions' homes. I've purchased many different items, and this is the water bottle and food dish I always find myself purchasing again and again. The food dish is wonderful because it doesn't tip easily due to the wide set width of the base and shallow edges. However, this water bottle is not the best choice for all critter personalities. If your pet has the tendency to build a nest underneath its bottle, this is not for you. This bottle does not hang on the side of the cage. It sits on top of the bedding, so naturally, the spout of the bottle looms closer to the floor surface than that of the average hanging bottle. If your pet piles bedding or fluff underneath of the spout of this bottle, you will have an annoying soggy mess and have to change all of the bedding underneath and around the bottle. In addition to the mess this creates, excessive moisture can also increase the risk of health problems for your little friend. This bottle is great for older critters, but not the best for little babies. Babies will instinctively seek shelter underneath of this bottle and make itself a little nest here. Other than the "possibility" of nesting issues, I can guarantee satisfaction regarding the convenience, functionality, and decorative touches this colorful little set will bring to you and your beloved furry friend.

Schrodt Designs TH-16TF Tranquil Forest Teahouse Birdfeeder Review

(More customer reviews)This bird feeder is certainly beautiful and, at first, seems very well designed. However, squirrels have bitten away the cedar around the openings to get at the seed. The holes at the bottom are now too big to contain any seed and the feeder is now essentially a funnel. While I think I can repair this damage, the design should be reworked to include metal plates around the openings and perches. Or, the overall esthetics of the design could be preserved by lining the sides with the same kind of etched glass which comprises the body of the feeder. I would rate this feeder higher if it had come with some documentation warning me about the potential for squirrel damage. I don't know what I would have done though -- if I wanted to look at something as ugly as one of those "satellite dishes" I would have bought a plastic bird feeder. In sort, this is a beautiful bird feeder but you'll need to guard it against bushy-tailed vandals.

(More customer reviews)Since I live in a condo and the only place I can put my feeders are in the flower beds, I needed something that wouldn't sprout. I tried the no sprout seed but the birds didn't like baked seeds. Kaytee's Sunflower Hearts and Chips is the only seed I have found that the birds will eat and does not sprout. I give it five stars and I have used it for three years now and still delighted with the product.

(More customer reviews)I was really disappointed when I got through all the packing paper and discovered the size of this "birdbath." Ashtray is more like it. It's maybe 12 inches long and about 8 inches wide -- I didn't measure it; that's an estimate. But the point is, it looks like a full-size birdbath in the picture, and it's nowhere near that. I ordered it as a replacement bowl for the birdbath I have, and this thing wouldn't even cover the hole.
It's nice for an ashtray. The thing is, there's a small hole on one side of the "trough" that's not supposed to be there. Maybe that was just a defect on the one I got. There's two holes on the edges where you screw in the birdies, but then an extra hole where the water's supposed to go! duh! I'm sending it back!

(More customer reviews)I just bought this hummingbird feeder and haven't been using it for very long, but it has a couple of problems that are obvious. First, it doesn't hang level, so one of the feeding tubes is lower than the other two. But, such is the nature of hand-blown glass, so I can live with that. The other thing that bugs me is that you can't fill it any higher than the feeding tubes. It is supposed to hold 20-ozs of nectar, I made 16-ozs and much of that leaked straight out. And because it doesn't hang level, it's even worse. It is very pretty though and I look forward to hopefully attracting many hummingbirds with it!

It's ability to hold so much more seed than just a platform feeder, and protect it a little longer makes this a very nice purchase. Also, condensation forms between the window glass and film putting splotches on the window side of the film that cannot very easily be cleaned off. Previously I have used the kind of film that adheres to the glass and this worked better for both the viewing problem and the condensation problem.

(More customer reviews)We live in a rural, wooded area. Tons of squirrels and chipmunks. I hung this up and kept an eye on it for over two months in the late spring, early summer. The squirrels completely ignored it. I noticed that even the raccoons didn't bother with this Squirrelog. The reason I give it 3 stars, instead of 1 or 2 stars, is perhaps this Squirrelog would be better received by the squirrels if I'd hung it up in the winter, and food was more scarce? I'm not sure, but our winters aren't cold anyway.
In any case, it became both a home and a source of food for little bugs/beetles, so I finally threw it away.
