(More customer reviews)I was really disappointed when I got through all the packing paper and discovered the size of this "birdbath." Ashtray is more like it. It's maybe 12 inches long and about 8 inches wide -- I didn't measure it; that's an estimate. But the point is, it looks like a full-size birdbath in the picture, and it's nowhere near that. I ordered it as a replacement bowl for the birdbath I have, and this thing wouldn't even cover the hole.
It's nice for an ashtray. The thing is, there's a small hole on one side of the "trough" that's not supposed to be there. Maybe that was just a defect on the one I got. There's two holes on the edges where you screw in the birdies, but then an extra hole where the water's supposed to go! duh! I'm sending it back!

(More customer reviews)It is VERY pretty, we're pleased with the appearance overall, matches out bird feeder post's finish, looks very elegant on it. But it doesn't glow in darkness as advertised, not at all. Disappointing. We decided to keep it though, it shall serve the main purpose. And who knows, it may decide to glow for us over the summer. We just got it last weekend, and saw few birds started using it, not too many yet, so far. They happily use the feeder itself, which we have on the next hook 1 foot away, but ignoring the bath. They probably need some time to find a new item safe to use. Besides water is more widely available now than in Winter.
Another con was that the hanging hook is really small - the picture is quite deceptive. My husband had to make another hook for it to fit onto our post. Overall is not bad though, price is medium. I had to pay for shipping too, wished Amazon to carry more garden products for Prime membership. I always hesitate to buy from other vendors than Amazon itself. Shipping cost is a factor of course, but troubles with possible returns don't appeal at all.

Per the seller and I quote "Customers do not complain about the rust because they understand that iron will rust outside. If you wanted a birdbath that wouldn't rust you should have purchased a plastic or resin one".

(More customer reviews)Although attractive, this horrible product trapped a tiny little chickadee as it tried to perch on the stand (I ground-mounted it). We discovered him after he had nearly pecked his own leg off trying to escape. I was able to free him by prying the bars of the mounting stand apart, all the while scaring the poor creature closer to death, and he was finally able to fly off where I'm certain he will die, either from trauma or an infection. I'm terribly disappointed with this product. Please be aware of this awful flaw and don't use the stand to mount the bowl.

CONS: Can't use heaters, cracks if left out in freezing weather
Who would think that most birdbaths cost nearly $ 100.00? When I went birdbath shopping, I was shocked at the prices. Of those that I did find, many had fake birds attached to the birdbath. What bird is going to want to drink or bathe with a fake bird by its side?
This birdbath fit the bill. The price was right, and the top of this unit unscrews, so you can take it to the garden hose to clean it. Who wants to scrub a nasty, concrete bird bath by hand with a brush? Ick.... Birdbaths get pretty gross.
I use garden staples that I put through the filigree base to keep the unit from blowing over in high wind. On one hand, the unit is lightweight and much easier to move than one constructed of concrete. On the other hand, it will blow over in extreme wind.
The main problem with this unit is that you have to store it for the winter. Freezing water will expand which cracks the bowl.
All in all, I am satisfied with this birdbath.

It's very stylish with a lovely coppery patina. But it's a tabletop item, not a garden item. (More customer reviews)I purchased this bowl for a feral cat colony (housed in a garage transformed into a strawbale "barn" for the kitties) and needed something that was sturdy enough to not be tipped over by a few of the cats who like to drink with their paws on the sides of the water bowl.
Living in Minnesota, a water bowl that would keep water from freezing is essential. In these parts the season known as "Fall" lasts approximately 12 hrs. The timeframe it goes from 78 to a daytime high of 38 the next day, with overnight lows in the 20's and 30's.
We've already had overnight lows (with windchill) in the low 20's and teens so I've had a chance to see how well the bowl would handle a dozen kitties as well as the cold temps.
Works like a charm. One day the water was frozen, I plugged in the bowl and no more frozen water the next day, and the weeks following.
If you have outdoor pets and cold overnight lows, this water bowl is what you need. Didn't seem to up my electric bill either which is nice.
Yes, I would recommend this item. Also, it took 1 week from time of ordering to arrive. I think they shipped the day after the order was processed, the only reason it took that long to arrive, was due to a weekend that fell a few days after I ordered.

Hanging Birdbath / Water Feeder - "Copper Spiral" Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this to hang on a high shepherd's crook over my wingspan copper birdbath. My hope was to have some dripping action from the hanging bath into the lower pan. I have no electricity in this area of the garden and don't like the gadget-y battery or solar water movers; I don't want to set up a faucet-driven dripper either - it seems wasteful and too far from the house to attempt it, or something could go wrong and saturate the area...
This product is very sturdy and great quality. There are no "shortcuts," not even in the hanging hardware. However, you can tell this is "hand made" in that it isn't perfectly symmetrical. Fine with me, but I thought I should mention it.
This has a long, attached copper hook.
Birds seem to prefer the drinker for imbibing because the water stays clean. Goldfinches in particular use the drinker; they usually passed by the bird baths, which are quickly dirtied by flocks of bathers. (No bird could bathe in this due to its construction, it's good for drinking only).
The item is beautiful to look at and its subtle movement with the occasional sound of water drizzling into the copper pan is a lovely touch.
The great thing with copper is that it can be left out year 'round. As soon as the sun hits it, even in the coldest winter weather, any ice or snow melts down enough to provide a drink for wintering birds.

Happy Bird DLXSS Deluxe Wild Bird Solar Sipper Review

(More customer reviews)I researched the Solar Sipper well before buying one and after all the glowing reviews, ordered 4. 2 were for myself and 2 to give as gifts. However, upon receiveing them, I discovered a major problem. The lid is very difficult to remove, and even MORE difficult to put back on, once it has water in it. I certainly would not givethese as gifts if they are this hard to put the lids on. Certainly, anyone with hand problems or diminished strength will have problems for sure.
After fighting with my two Sipper baths several times and spilling a whole bath worth of water on myself more than once, I called the company I had ordered from and discovered their return policy to be so restricitve that I called the manufacturer myself. The manufacturer, Happy Bird Corp., was wonderful and gave me not only some instructions about how to possibly cure the problem, but also said they would refund me the total amount of my purchase, less shipping of course, if I still had issues with it and to just skip the lousy online retailer I bought them from.
So, here is the little trick they told me, though I have yet to try it. They said there is a little burr of plastic around the inside edge of the outer container were the lid snaps in. I am to take a knife and scrap off some of the burred edge and see if that helps. They said others have had this problem too and this has proven to help. I shall see. I'll write an update after giving this a try.
UPDATE: The scrapping trick did help! Will be doing this too all of them, including the ones I plan to give as gifts.
