(More customer reviews)Although attractive, this horrible product trapped a tiny little chickadee as it tried to perch on the stand (I ground-mounted it). We discovered him after he had nearly pecked his own leg off trying to escape. I was able to free him by prying the bars of the mounting stand apart, all the while scaring the poor creature closer to death, and he was finally able to fly off where I'm certain he will die, either from trauma or an infection. I'm terribly disappointed with this product. Please be aware of this awful flaw and don't use the stand to mount the bowl.

Hanging Birdbath / Water Feeder - "Copper Spiral" Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this to hang on a high shepherd's crook over my wingspan copper birdbath. My hope was to have some dripping action from the hanging bath into the lower pan. I have no electricity in this area of the garden and don't like the gadget-y battery or solar water movers; I don't want to set up a faucet-driven dripper either - it seems wasteful and too far from the house to attempt it, or something could go wrong and saturate the area...
This product is very sturdy and great quality. There are no "shortcuts," not even in the hanging hardware. However, you can tell this is "hand made" in that it isn't perfectly symmetrical. Fine with me, but I thought I should mention it.
This has a long, attached copper hook.
Birds seem to prefer the drinker for imbibing because the water stays clean. Goldfinches in particular use the drinker; they usually passed by the bird baths, which are quickly dirtied by flocks of bathers. (No bird could bathe in this due to its construction, it's good for drinking only).
The item is beautiful to look at and its subtle movement with the occasional sound of water drizzling into the copper pan is a lovely touch.
The great thing with copper is that it can be left out year 'round. As soon as the sun hits it, even in the coldest winter weather, any ice or snow melts down enough to provide a drink for wintering birds.

Hayes 13053 Horizons Hummingbird Feeder, Antique Copper with Red Flowers Review

(More customer reviews)It looks great and even has a perch for the birds but it is horrible. If you have it PERFECTLY upright its ok but if there is a little breeze or any movement the nectar comes POURING out of the bottom tray which in turn causes ants on your deck which then causes ants in your house! I ended up buying a not so attractive feeder for $6 and I have never had so many hummingbirds at my feeders before.
DON'T buy this feeder, get the cheaper ones that have little perches, well worth all the birds you'll get.

(More customer reviews)I bought this bird feeder after looking locally for a large feeder - prices were out of sight here. This is a strong & heavy feeder. It may not hang on your average hook or limb. It's made for almost any feed except thistle. Ours is loaded with half chicken scratch and half bird seed mix from our local feed store. It easily comes apart and goes back together for refill or cleaning.

While still being a nice large feeder I found out that rain will fill the bird seed tray and soak up into the entire container of feed where it sours or ferments. The base needs to be worked over. I have a good metal and woodworking shop. I imagine I'll remove what base I can and still retain the feeder holes and assembly full length screw and attach a flat wooden and/or screen wire platform. (More customer reviews)I am ordering my second feeder today. I've been using the same one for 3 years now year round, because we have hummers all year long in Phoenix. It is still in perfect condition. I like this one because the parts are mostly metal, and the sun is brutal here on anything plastic. The only problem I've had with it is aligning the bottom correctly so the nectar doesn't leak out. I've mastered it now, so it's not a problem. To avoid breaking the neck off of the jar, I soak the unit in warm water for a few minutes before unscrewing. I'm also very careful not to over tighten. I fill it only half way, as the birds don't like the food if it's over a few days old, especially in warm weather. Here is a trick for cleaning your feeder. Put about 3 Tbls. of white vinegar mixed with two cups of water in the feeder. Add about 1/2 cup of white uncooked rice. (I use a funnel) and shake. The friction from the rice will clean even the dark mold off of the inside. Rinse well before filling.

I bought this particular Opus feeder on Amazon, Seven Years ago. It is amazing that the feeder not only looks great but also still is operating like new. Opus Company is the most cooperative manufacturer and they stand behind all their products.
I called them when an aggressive squirrel ate through the squirrel guard in about six months, only because I had it put it up with too large of rope. Though it was my fault, they replaced the top and sent it out to my house immediately 100% free!
