spikes unglue quite easily
so you wind up unscrewing corn
and spikes together
then have to keep glueing on
not well designed.

All of my backyard friends love this product. If there is one complaint is that it goes too quickly. When I have one hanging, there is either a bird or squirrel on it.
A lot of fun to watch when they are on the bungee.

C. & S. Prod. 610 Squirrel Log And Feeder Review

We live in a rural, wooded area. Tons of squirrels and chipmunks. I hung this up and kept an eye on it for over two months in the late spring, early summer. The squirrels completely ignored it. I noticed that even the raccoons didn't bother with this Squirrelog. The reason I give it 3 stars, instead of 1 or 2 stars, is perhaps this Squirrelog would be better received by the squirrels if I'd hung it up in the winter, and food was more scarce? I'm not sure, but our winters aren't cold anyway.
In any case, it became both a home and a source of food for little bugs/beetles, so I finally threw it away.

Songbird Essentials Squirrel Spinner Review

Songbird Essentials Squirrel Spinner

They love this thing. I recommend having it face a window where you can watch them play. They will usually hang upside down and twirl it around, while eating.
We already wore out our first one and decided to replace it. The first one lasted nearly a decade.
It's such a simple design, but they seem to really love it. The nails are nice and long, so it holds the corn cobs on really well.

I have one of these where I can see it easily. There are now three squirels who come every day. There is at least one there at a time most of every day. What a hoot to watch! The other day one was trying to get at the feed while another was sitting on top eating. Got the picture? I have had this for three years and it is still in great shape so I can say it is well made.

Achla Designs Squirrel Jungle Gym Feeder Review

Achla Designs Squirrel Jungle Gym Feeder
Average Reviews:

I'd have to concur with I. Page about this item. The corkscrews do indeed look too big to comfortable put an ear of corn on. I've found that anything larger than 3/8" screws/eyelets will split the ears as they are screwed on. I have a Squirrel-Go-Round that I've lengthened the arms on, and that alone puts a new twist on the entertainment factor. I will probably design my own jungle gym, using this as a base to start from, but using more available materials. Make the crossbars able to move in 2 planes with a cable top to bottom, and use 5/16" screws for 5 ears.
I Page, I'd suggest that you use 1/4" or 5/16" lag bolts to put the corn on. I've got 5 5/16" eyelets on the Squirrel-Go-Round, lengthened the arms to 24" (22" from medalion to eyelet) and put 12" plastic party platters on as baffles. 14" platters would probably be perfect, give the squirrels just enough that they a bend around and get one kernel, but not be able to grab the ear and then hang from it with their hind feet. The 12" platter dissuades all but a few, even if they all will try to get at the corn. This gym design has promise, and with a few refinements it will be the charm...

Looker Spinning Squirrel Stick Review

Looker Spinning Squirrel Stick
Average Reviews:

This squirrel stick is a hoot! The squirrels certainly put on quite a performance. It's like my own little Cirque du Soleil show. The squirrels climb up the stick for corn, spin around in a loop and step off. Of course, some squirrels are not so graceful. They are clever and determined. I should set up a video camera to catch their antics.

This is a nice item. I got it to keep the squirrel away from the bird feeder, and it did work for 1 day because the squirrel figured out how to get the food out of the feeder and he ran with the whole thing. It's empty now and looks like the picture.

I bought this as a gift for my grandfather who is having sqirrel trouble. I thought it would help keep the sqirrels away from his birdfeeder. Unfortunately, the sqirrels get bored with it and go back to the bird seed. They were hysterical to watch, but don 't buy this if your trying to lure sqirrels AWAY from your birdfeeder.

GREAT product. It's well made and great entertainment and ,of course, the squirrels love it. It may be that the squirrels in Cary, NC are extra tall or that the Arrow Feeder is short (on the corn end) by about 3 inches because they don't really need to work at getting their treat.

Stokes Select 38079 Squirrel Lunch Box Review

Stokes Select 38079 Squirrel Lunch Box
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had this feeder for two years now, and I have to say I LOVE watching the squirrels and larger birds play around it.
One of the best features, I think, it the plastic screen that keeps the food in -- and therefore dry. It raises up just enough for some to come out for the squirrels and birds to pick at is from the perch, and of course they can get some more by reaching under (the squirrels) or sticking their heads under (the birds - mostly blue jays) the screen.
I didn't have this problem last year, but this year some of the squirrels figured out that they could remove the screen by lifting the lid and pulling/pushing the screen up and out. I haven't seen them do it yet, but they did it three times before I decided to try to put an end to it. To that end, every time I fill it I now tie the lid shut by wrapping plastic string around it several times and triple knotting it underneath. So far (for that last two weeks), it's seemed to work.
I've also recently tried putting peanuts in this. The squirrels and birds seem to love this, but they don't eat the peanuts at the feeder -- they carry them off. Possibly to store them for the winter. But as a result I think I may swish back to putting regular feed - or sunflower seeds - in it.

C&S 608 Squirrelog Refill Pack, 2-Pack Review

CandS 608 Squirrelog Refill Pack, 2-Pack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been using these for many years. They are ground up whole corn. When squirrels eat off of corn cobs they eat just the tiny germ and then discard the rest of the kernel creating a big mess.
I live deep in woods virtually surrounded by State Park/Lake/Wildlife Habitat, Towns Habit, County Habits and Audubon Lands. Off my house is a tree level 30 ft X 30 ft deck with many METAL bird feeders on two sides hanging out into the woods. There is no way to totally protect them from the squirrels, who eat up plastic and wood, but using long, nearly horizontal hangers for feeders and safflower seeds for those that hang close to rails helps to discourage squirrel chewing. Squirrels aren't supposed to like Safflower but I have one pregnant female who eats safflower. ;(
Anyway I keep two logs out at all times for the many, many wild (obese) squirrel "pets" that live here. I can usually go through "only" about 6 logs a week (and some wildlife feed scattered on deck) as long as I bring one of the logs in every night that the opossums steal if left out.
I haven't observed any other birds showing much interest in the logs other than the Crows. They love them. We have several families of Crows who visit daily to eat the logs,Safflower seeds, and woodpecker's special suet (squirrels favor that one too).
BTW... On the few occasions we run out of Squirrelogs and are not successful hitting the few stores around that carry them but always seem to be out we have had to use corn cobs. Between the crows and squirrels we have to replace the cobs every hour or so. AND THE MESS!!!!!
This price from this seller is the best I have found even with shipping. And with one exception the packages from our local sources always have bugs in them ... the one that doesn't has the initials is PS.
You wont go wrong getting this product. I used to use the little wood seat to hold the logs. After the novelty wears off a strategically placed screw holder that comes with some of the packaged logs works fine and gives appropriate viewing pleasure. One local seller sells packages that icludes a holder screw in each package; others sell packages without the screw holders. The prices are pretty close. I have a huge collection of the screw holders and haven't yet found another use for them.

Feeder works well. I had to partially prop open the lid to show the little rodents how to get to the unsalted peanuts, but once they caught on I can keep the lid down and when a squirrel wants a bite, they readily open the lid and help themselves.
