Valley Splendor Nyjer Seeds Review

Valley Splendor Nyjer Seeds
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had to respond after I read the single review. I bought 3 bags and the birds ate it all in one month. I had 60 birds at my 4 feeders. I recommend getting the mesh bags for feeders; otherwise, the birds get frustrated with trying to get the seed out of the small holes in plastic feeders. And then they do leave the seed to rot. I've tried Kaytee as well and both products are equally relished.

Stokes Select STK5434-10 Premium Black Oil Sunflower Review

Stokes Select STK5434-10 Premium Black Oil Sunflower
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Whether you're a beginner at bird feeding, or a seasoned veteran with many years of back yard experience behind you, the one thing you will all come to have in common is the knowledge that black oil sunflower is the very best and sought after seed for all birds. Its something you will learn in bird feeding 101 on the first day. Though its true that some birds will scoop up cheaper seeds like milo and millet like a vacuum, if you want to attract both the most and largest variety of birds you should be offering them black oil sunflower. It will quite simply attract any order of bird that comes to feeders, period. Its shell is more paper like making it easy for any bird to crack open, and the pulp inside that is the birds delight is big enough to take up almost the whole interior of the shell. Making it well worth the birds efforts in eating and discarding one after another. Black oil is available anywhere bird seed is offered, and considering hardly any of it ever goes to waste makes it actually the true bargain of all bird seed. However take it from someone that has between 7 and 12 bird feeders of all types going at any given time of year, and has been for years, when it comes to premium gourmet black oil seed I honestly believe there is no such thing. Birds may adore black oil sunflower, but they are also one of the least discerning consumers when it comes to their diet of anything in the entire animal kingdom. In other words, a feeder bird will suck down a cheap sunflower seed as fast and as furious as a so called premium one. I know this for I bought a small bag of premium seed once and examined it, as well as closely monitored the birds consumption of it. Neither the seed shell nor the pulp appeared of any better quality, nor was the seed consumed any faster than the much cheaper brand. Its all the same to birds, ya gotta trust me on this one. The only visible attribute I noticed in the so called premium seed was that it was a little cleaner. That is, there were less wood shavings and small twigs in their blend than the cheaper stuff. Something that is not at all present in any volume to either pose a problem, nor be considered an extra expense in the regular brands. The outrageous price they ask for premium sunflower more than makes up for the weight of any crap added to the cheaper blends. There are many different kinds of brands and names being represented in the gourmet black oil sunflower seed class. Stokes being just one of the better known. Some agricultural centers here sell their premium sunflower by weight without you even knowing where it comes from. You are only told its the very best quality and cleanest you can buy for your birds. And of course, by far the most expensive as well. All of them, including the Stokes brand offered here are nothing but a big fat waste of your hard earned dollars. For the price they want for what you get in the Stokes you could easily buy 50 pounds or more at discount and agricultural centers locally. Throw in the shipping cost, and you would be hard pressed to find a bigger waste of money for anything anywhere on Amazon. Don't be taken in by Stokes or any other big brand name. Its all the same to Mr. and Mrs. Bird. Do yourself two favors, buy black oil sunflower seeds for your back yard feeders, and buy the very biggest and cheapest bag you can find. (If there is a Tractor Supply company store in your area, go there. I have not found any place cheaper. Avoid supermarkets and big box stores for any kind of bird food). You're birds will flock to your feeders and love you for it, and you will be rewarded by the delight of watching them and a fatter wallet as well...

KAYTEE SUNFLOWER HEART & CHIPS BIRD SEED Review

KAYTEE SUNFLOWER HEART and CHIPS BIRD SEED
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Since I live in a condo and the only place I can put my feeders are in the flower beds, I needed something that wouldn't sprout. I tried the no sprout seed but the birds didn't like baked seeds. Kaytee's Sunflower Hearts and Chips is the only seed I have found that the birds will eat and does not sprout. I give it five stars and I have used it for three years now and still delighted with the product.

PETCO Black Oil Sunflower Seed Review

PETCO Black Oil Sunflower Seed
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

If you love Cardinals (birds, not the baseball team) then you must feed them black oil sunflower seeds. It's true any bird who can reach your feeder, and squirrels too, will gorge themselves on these.
We probably feed 75 per cent of these seeds to other birds just to keep the Cardinals returning to my feeder. But it is worth it, plus we've started to feed them year round and notice how healthy and fat they look this spring. Hope this will lead to a whole new generation of Cardinals at my feeder.
If we neglect to keep the feeder full, they let us know it by their loud, vocal complaints!
Semper Fi.

Coles Wild Bird Products 8 oz Flaming Squirrel Review

Coles Wild Bird Products 8 oz Flaming Squirrel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had squirrels hanging on my tube feeders, just scooping the contents out, and then dropping off to eat on the ground. This product was recommended to me by a bird-watching friend, and boy does it work. Since I have treated my seed with it, NO SQUIRRELS. Birds, however, either like it or couldn't care less about it, because they still eat all the seed. The only thing I will say as a caution, however, is you have to handle it carefully. It is WAY STRONGER than tabasco, so do not get it on you, or in your eyes, etc. I just use it as directed, and carefully, and I've had no problems (and no squirrels!). Now all my feeders are squirrel-proof!

Kaytee Safflower Seed, 5-Pound Bag Review

Kaytee Safflower Seed, 5-Pound Bag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My lovebird LOVES safflower seed. I have not been able to find any stores in the area that sell a seed mixture that has a high safflower count so I'm buying this to reduce wasted seed. I mix this in with the store bought seed to increase the safflower count. My love bird is much happier now, and I'm replacing seed much less often. Also, pretty much every wild bird in the area also loves this stuff. I get plenty of mourning doves, red breasted house finches, and gold finches will hang out all day if I spread a little of this seed around.

I live in Florida. I bought this because I had researched it as the best attracter for cardinals. It took awhile.. maybe a month... for them to figure out it was there. But once they did, we have loads of cardinals..
And unlike regular birdseed, it doesn't sprout in my beds when some drops on the ground.

This is the only suet that I can put out that the squirrels leave alone! I usually get it in the big home store, but have been sick and can't get out right now. I was hoping to get it cheaper too. Even so, it is a good buy when you actually feed birds instead of squirrels! I get a lot of song birds, Flickers, flocks of BushTits, and even blue jays benefit from the fallen bits on the ground. Also, I think vermin ignore it which makes my husband happy... I have it out year round and love watching the bird show!

This is a high quality bird feeder made from materials that will last. I bought it because it was American made and I'm happy I did. When I fill it up, I end up with 6 American gold finches filling all the perches on the feeder. I really enjoy it.

Songbird and Cardinal Preferred Blend Bird Food Review

Songbird and Cardinal Preferred Blend Bird Food
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was really hoping to get some cardinals, blue jays, and woodpeckers back into my yard by putting this feed out, but I have found that some other birds really like it as well. We have a lot of little birds (maybe finches based on chests that appear yellowish) that have been frequenting the yard in large groups to hang out at the feeders. When they spill it on the ground, the wild doves come and forage down there, so we got an added bonus. I would recommend getting a good squirrel spray unless you want to feed them too, because they also appear to like it a bit too much.
