(More customer reviews)I ordered 2 of these as a replacement for one I that I had been using for years. The new feeder seems to be sturdier than the old one. I really like Woodlink brand feeders as they are always high quality and well designed.
The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5, the hole in the lid allows the chain and hook to slide completely through the lid when refilling. This is a minor nusance and could be solved with a washer or some type of "Chain-stop". The birds love this sunflower feeder. Finches, woodpeckers and nuthatches all are frequent visitors. I also orderd the thistle feeder that is similar in design. It is the best thistle feeder that I have ever had.

(More customer reviews)I loved the idea of these lively decorated bags - what could be easier to feed our hummingbirds? Regretfully, they did not seem to appeal to the birds at all. They would fly around it, some settled on the little perch, but no birds drank from them at all. I bought 6 of them, and after trying 2 in our usual hummingbird feeder locations I ended up emptying out the nectar from the remaining bags into the plain old feeders from the discount store, and our hummingbird friends were happy once again. I wish they worked, the idea is simple and the design charming. Maybe if the "flower" had a yellow center like the typical feeders do it might have made a difference.

12 INCH ST FRANCIS OF ASSISI BIRD FEEDER Review

(More customer reviews)I've seen a number of St Francis of Assisi statues/depictions. Some, of course, are life-size (or larger) statues that can only be purchased by organizations, museums, and the wealthy. Others are much smaller ("suitable" for personal gardens, etc.) but still too expensive for many people.
I've also seen reasonably-priced statues that were poorly done, odd looking, or cheap looking. One even had splotches (no other word for it) all over it (not just on his clothes, to perhaps be meant as patches in his robe), including on the animals!
This "bird feeder" is actually a statue that can either stand on its base or hang from its metal-reinforced notch. The fingers, toes, and facial features are well done (even finger nails) with each finger clear and refined in workmanship. The animals are well done also (fawn, birds) and in reasonable "locations"; the chain and Cross he wears are very well done. I actually have mine displayed in my living room--it is that nice.
This statue is suitable for display as artwork, for used as a key caddy (or ring caddy in the kitchen), or for its intended use as a bird feeder. It is wonderful for Catholics and Protestants and Independents--anyone who respects his work, loves nature in general and/or wildlife in particular.
I most highly recommend it as the best statue of St Francis that I've found for sale in the retail market.

The optional seed catch tray helps the mourning doves get at the seed, but there is still a layer of empty shells under the feeder. The tray doesn't really catch very much!

(More customer reviews)This is a fantastic feeder. The mesh is solid and chew proof and the mesh is too fine for large birds and squirrels to use, so you only find small songbirds on this feeder. Both the top and bottom come off for easy filling or cleaning, but attach firmly so that squirrels cannot get inside. One of the most clever aspects of this feeder is that, as it empties, the nyjer seed stays distributed vertically within the feeder so that birds can feed along the entire height of the feeder right up until the point that it is empty. I've seen eight birds on this simultaneously, but the comfortable limit seems to be five birds. Even though this feeder has birds feeding on it most of the day, I've only needed to refill it every 5 weeks.
