(More customer reviews)I just bought the third feeder of this type, for different locations, not because they needed to be replaced. These feeders live up to the claims--they are all metal and have stood up well to both squirrels and raccoons. Squirrels can get to the seeds, but they do not damage the feeder. Cardinals and finches are the most frequent visitors, but other feeder birds, such as chickadees and nuthatches also use it. My oldest feeder of this type has been in service for more than four years. They really do hold up and deliver the seed.
The only disadvantage to the design is the need to use two hands to fill the feeder since there's no support for the wire mesh body of the feeder. You have to hold the bail at the top and, with the other hand, open the top trap door and pour in the seed. At worst it's just a little awkward.
Some NO-NO feeders have a perch (metal ring) around the feeder, but this model has a tray. I prefer the tray because it keeps seeds from falling to the ground and provides more space for birds.
In my experience, this is an excellent feeder for backyard birding.
