(More customer reviews)After watching the squirrels make short work of the seed cake in my "squirrel-resistant" cage feeder, I was looking for a feeder that would frustrate the greedy rascals, but couldn't afford an expensive high-tech squirrel-proof contraption. These little globes are just about perfect; squirrels can pull the seeds through the mesh but it's a lot of work for them and they soon give up and move on. The mesh size is good for medium-size seed such as peanut pieces, sunflower, and pumpkin, and for small pieces of dried fruit. Smaller seeds like millet will fall through. Chickadees and juncos found the globes right away and returned again and again. It's a bit harder for cardinals to get the sunflower seeds out with their larger beaks, but they manage. The sparrows clean up anything that drops to the ground. I hung one globe near some branches for the perching birds and another out in the open for the clingers such as goldfinches and chickadees. The caps lock so the squirrels can't remove them. These globes are well-made,the colors are pretty, and the price is unbeatable, even with shipping charges. A real find.
