-it has perches, so you can watch your hummers feeding;
-it is not too big. In this part of the country (southeastern PA) we only get one kind of hummer (ruby-throat) and even if you are lucky enough to have several hummers in your area, they will NEVER empty the feeder.
-it is VERY IMPORTANT to keep your feeder clean and this feeder is the easiest to clean; just unscrew the red top part from the green bottom part, squeeze the green bottom part and it snaps apart; rinse with hot water, vinegar and swish with a bottle brush; rinse well and there you go!
-I have 3 feeders in my yard and I clean them every day in hot weather. (You can clean them every other day if you have them in a shady spot, but mine are mainly in the sun). EASY CLEANING is essential; hummingbird feeding requires a committment because dirty feeders and sour nectar will sicken the birds.
-Over the past six years, I have purchased at least 15 of these feeders. I gave them to friends who wanted to start feeding hummers, I placed and maintain 2 feeders at an assisted living residence where I visit and I have replaced my own 3 feeders with new ones (this is a great product, but, of course, they don't last forever).
-It should be noted I do NOT use the suction cup window feeding method. I use the string hanger they give you and hang it from a hook away from the window. So, I can't comment on the success of the suction cup.
-I should have given this item a 5-star review (not just 4 stars) but couldn't figure out how to fix it.
This feeder is the one you want !! The hummers love the bright red color and the perches (they would much rather sit and drink than hover and drink and you get to really see them well while they sit there)
