(More customer reviews)I bought his feeder to replace one I had made myself. Although this feeder is constructed with better materials, I sometimes wish I had kept the one I made.
The access opening height for the birds is a little less than five inches. Such a height limits the feeder to smaller birds. Now we rarely see the bluejays or doves that used to frequent the previous feeder. Also our robin regular seldom visits either.
Being made of cedar, this feeder should hold up to the elements well. I coated mine with clear cedar anyway. The metal mesh tray slides out for cleaning, but the opening for it is so narrow that seed sometimes gets wedged in it.
The feeder is nicely designed and made with quality materials. I prefer something a little bigger, but others may find this size to their liking.
